Biography
Michael Kanemoto is a Colorado artist specializing in landscape and outdoor photography. Whether hiking to waterfalls or through the deserts and mountains of the American West, Michael immerses the individual within an intimate setting to recreate the wonder and spectacle of the world. Michael has a deep understanding of natural lighting, the sense of space and location, and is driven by creating an image that resonates with the viewer.
Michael believes the standard for natural images is the human perception of the actual subject, and uses digital photography with post-processing to arrive at the final image.
Michael began taking photographs at twelve on vacations to Yellowstone National Park. This early interaction with the natural environment and photography grew to a passion to capture the beauty of nature and wildlife. Michael continued to photograph in high school in Wisconsin, learning the basics of photography: depth of focus, exposure, and developing images with projectors and chemistry.
Michael attended the School of Art and Design and the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan where he fused his passion of technology, art, and design in a joint degree program.
Since 2004, Michael has received 17 awards on the international photography website usefilm.com, and has been selected as an exhibiting member of Kansas City’s Business Council of the Arts. He has a LinkedIn profile and shares his work on Flickr.
He has also been known to perform proof of concept and technology research in wireless telecommunications, and is a technology governance expert.
